News, unfiltered and immediately dispatched, travels fast on the Internet to and from anywhere. This free flow of information has depended on the support of the U.S. Government, and such support has seemed like a good thing to provide for the research and education communities. Is it good news that the Internet is increasingly less dependent on government subsidies? Where will privatization take us and how far are we willing to go?
